Get More River Kings Coverage with the River Kings Report

by James Van Dyke

Fans of the Cedar Rapids River Kings can get the latest club news from multiple sites this season. In addition to goriverkings.com, you can get in depth coverage with the River Kings Report at riverkingsreport.com.

Part-time history professor, stay-at-home dad, and River Kings fan, Brian Donovan, is the writer for the River Kings report. Donovan’s main duties are as a stay-at-home father to twin daughters and has taught part-time at Coe College, Kirkwood Community College, and the University of Iowa. As a hobby, he runs the River Kings Report, but it is much more than a hobby to Donovan. He is an avid Cedar Rapids sports fan who has taken his love for the local teams to the written word.

“The hope is to make this the No. 1 fan site in the Indoor Football League,” said Donovan. “This is strictly a hobby of mine. I’m not trying to make any money. I’m a fan; I think others should be fans. If I can make you a fan, then I’ve done my job.”

Riverkingsreport.com is a fan site where you can get the most up-to-date news, interviews with players and coaches, and analysis of the squad. Donovan’s latest posts include his “State of the Kingdom” reports on the River Kings offense and defense and “Get to Know” features on LB Tristian Green, RB Eddie Lusk, and DB Antwan Smith.

Even though he’s not a fan of being in front of the camera, Donovan hosts Facebook Live River Kings Report shows. The third installment of the show will take place Monday, January 20 at 7 p.m. at Daisy’s Garage in Cedar Rapids and will feature special guest Cedar Rapids native and Super Bowl champion wide receiver Dedric Ward.

Donovan, who is the River Kings’ public address announcer at home games, started the River Kings Report in September of 2019. His grand vision is for the site to be a year-round venture to showcase, not only the exploits of the team on the field, but to highlight the team’s work in the community like with the recent “Lace’em Up With Leo” exercise program in the local elementary schools.

The River Kings Report may not stop there with Donovan. He was thrown the idea of writing a book about life in the Indoor Football League.
